Tarkarli is a small narrow stretched beach on west coastline of India, situated at the base of the Arabian Sea and River Karli about 7km from Malvan. It is declared as best beach of Maharashtra by Indian tourism.
“Life stages: crawl, walk and Dive“ and it was time to dive – Tarkarli was pending from long to visit. It is Queen Beach of Sindhdurg, providing a transparent sea of about 20 feet deep with clear sun for diving.
Tarkarli Beach: Beaches are often the best escape for admiring sun, sand and crazy waves but Tarkarli provide the insight of life beneath water. Colorful corals reefs, colorful fishes even clown fish and much more to explore (scuba diving / snorkeling / boat ride).
It is rightly said
“The best way to observer a fish is to become a fish” – Jacques cousteau
The water is clear and clean with little greenish shade of its own. I felt I am over the moon when I am under water gazing colorful fishes and coral reefs. The calmness of localities and serenity of places makes it more welcoming to visit. It is long stretched golden sand beach, deserted with casuarinas stretched trees for miles around it.
Sindhdurg Fort: The fort after which the district is named is one of the prominent landmarks. This fort was built by Shivaji maharaj to counter foreign forces. Inspite of historical significance, the landscape surrounding it makes it more charming to visit. I loved the short ferry ride from malvan jetty toward fort. The soft breeze and the clear water sight of green costal sea are beautiful.
Devbaug Beach / Tusnami Islands: This is another clean virgin beach in Malvan and it has lot of water sports options available to explore like bumper ride, para sailing, jet skiing etc. Here you see Arabian Sea and back water of Karli River and their different shades of waters. Often Dolphins are spotted here early morning in small troops. From Devbaugh, you can visit the light house nearby via boat. Also, there is Tsunami Island famous for its name and water rides serving calm water. This island is partially submerged under water during high tides.
Golden Ganpanti Temple: It was built by and under supervision of Jayant Roa the creator of famous “Kalnirnaya” and profound astrologers. This temple is a symbol of faith and devotion. The idol of Ganesha is made of pure gold and the architecture of temple is built considering the astrological aspects .Loved the simplicity and innocence of people here.
Rock Garden: It is rightly said “Beautiful Creation is the canvas on which god has painted his character” and rock garden is once such perfect example of gods creations. The splashing sea water cutting the rocks and molding it into different shapes with shells embarked over make it a beautiful garden to explore and admire the sunset. A perfect place to relax and enjoy the wide spread view of chivala beach.
Others things to explore around are Bhogwe Beach, Sagareshwar Temple and beaches, MTDC houseboats, Dolphin hopping near Devbaug beach, fresh water fishing , night puppet and drama shows.
“Live by the sea and Love by the moon” – Overall an unusual enticement of the seashores of Konkan coast is experienced and observed here.
